TTT – Books I Meant to Read In 2018 but Didn’t Get To

White Stag⭐⭐⭐1/2 (The king is dead! Let’s kill half the population)

This book is fast paced, uncomfortable, beautiful and brutal. Janneke has spent 100 years as a thrall in Permafrost, the land of the goblins, after her family was slaughtered and the lands burnt. She was first owned by the insane and torture friendly Lydian for a short time, who later passed her on to his nephew Soren where she has remained. When the Erlking dies the hunt, or slaughter fest, begins to find out who will become the new Erlking. The strongest will win and anyone is fair game. Now, let’s dig into it! //Grimmsnaught

Smoke in the Sun⭐⭐⭐⭐ (As Fierce as the Fire)

The second book in the Flame in the Mist duology. This one too was deliciously slow paced and engaging. Ahdieh has a magical way with words that can convey the workings of a characters mind and their growth during dark times in a beautiful way. //Grimsnaught

Flame in the Mist⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2 (Japanese Mulan)

We follow the daughter of a prominent samurai Mariko as she begins her journey to the capital to meet her future husband, the son of the emperor's favourite consort. She is attacked on the way when her entourage is travelling trough a forest known as the ”yōkai” forrest. She survives and will now try to infiltrate the clan who she believes attacked her to find out why and prove to her family that she is more than just a girl to be traded of as a priced horse for political gain. //Grimmsnaught

Brave⭐⭐⭐⭐ (PTSD and Trolls)

So we came to the end of the the trilogy, and it was great! Kickass fight scenes, drama, plot twists I did not see coming and Think was still awesome! This book gave me pretty much all I wanted, except for an ending to the story. But I realised halfway trough that there would not be time for that, and if there were it would be kind half-assed. And that was pretty much the only thing that lowers the score on the book. But no biggie, there was still so much to like!

Afterburn/Afterchock ⭐⭐ (Well, there were food..)

Sylvia Day is my go to author when I'm in the mood for something adult (meaning x-rated). The stories are usually rich with emotions and drama with the addition of being really HOT. Sometimes a bit corny, but that usually makes me laugh so no complaints. But Afterburn/Afterchock was different for me. //Grimmsnaught
